Bitcoin Address Distribution: 100 BTC and 0.1 BTC

How many Bitcoin addresses hold at least 100 BTC or 0.1 BTC? Compare their daily history and see the latest net change.

What does the 100 BTC address count measure?

It counts funded Bitcoin addresses with a balance of at least 100 BTC at the represented block. The 0.1 BTC series uses a lower threshold of 10,000,000 satoshis. Both include the threshold itself. The 100 BTC group is already included in the 0.1 BTC group, so adding the two counts would double-count addresses.

How is today’s change calculated?

The latest count minus the previous UTC day’s count gives the net daily change. Today’s observation is provisional and can change as new blocks arrive. The service checks for an updated snapshot every 30 minutes when requested and shows the source timestamp. If the source is delayed, the date stays visible; missing data is not treated as zero.

Does this show how many whales are buying Bitcoin?

No. Addresses are not wallets, people or investment funds. A person can control many addresses, while an exchange can hold coins for many customers in a single address. Splitting or combining balances can move these counts without a purchase or sale. This tracker describes address balance distribution, not verified holders or trading flows.

How to compare address cohorts

Select either balance group or both groups. Lines show percentage change from the first date shared by the selected series, making different magnitudes comparable. The readout shows exact address counts for the selected date.

Sources and limitations

Address observations come from the open-source Bitcoin Research Kit / Bitview API. Use the source link beneath the chart to inspect the original service. This is an educational visualization, not an investment signal.
